How will You Spend Your Part of the Federal Appropriation for Vocational Education in Your State?

Of course you won't overlook the educational value of the Wood Crafts. There is nothing one comes in contact with so much and constantly in the home, the shop, the school and everywhere as wood and wood products.

Next to sculpture and painting, perhaps ahead of either, the wood craft arts hold the important place in the cultural development of the human race. The line of highest refinement all down the ages can be traced by this wonderful art in chair, bric-a-brac, and furniture products of all kinds.

In the wood crafts, therefore, your boys will acquire a broad and liberal knowledge of what have been the worthy aspirations of the human race from the dawn of history to the present day. And that is education.

In this activity don't overlook American Woodworking Machines, the indisputable standard of the world,-not toys or playthings, but real industrial tools of the highest merit, the kind the boy should have access to in his training.

A Primary Song Book for Sight Reading

The latest rolume in the

PROGRESSIVE MUSIC SERIES

In the original plan of the PROGRESSIVE MUSIC COURSE a definite place was reserved for a Primer which should contain attractive sight reading material. embodying the most elementary problems in time and tune. This little volume just published is the fulfillment of that plan.

THE PRIMARY SONG BOOK contains 63 classified songs for sight reading, representing simple melodies based upon the Tonic Chord. Nearly half the melodies are folk songs. The words to all the songs are particularly charming.

It is designed for use either as supplementary sight reading material to accompany Book One, or in the latter part of Grade Two as a definite preparation for the work of Book One.

THE PRIMARY SONG BOOK is equally well adapted for supplementary use with any other music system.

A High School Song Book

Edited by GERTRUDE B. PARSONS

Head of the Department of Music

Polytechnic High School, Los Angeles, Cal.

An admirable collection of chorus material which adapts itself in the most comprehensive and enjoyable way to recreational singing. They are songs that every high school student wants to sing and they are just the songs most acceptable for community singing.

What Is Education?

For one thing, it is a familiarity with the lives of really great people. Their struggles-their victories-inspire the younger generations to fight through to a coveted and worthy goal.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN is a permanent inspiration. He was the living demonstrator of democracy in its purest and truest form. To know him and his undying loyalty to the enduring principles of life -to know Lincoln means education to any young boy or girl or grown person.

"A Man for the Ages"

by Irving Bacheller is a vivid novel built around Lincoln and the pioneer settlers of the Middle West. So great a piece of fiction is the book, the reader scarcely realizes he has become intimately acquainted with a powerful, outstanding American and, for this reason, it is just the book to give young boys and girls. They get a biography and don't know it, and they enjoy the book for its story sake and they learn to love Lincoln for himself. The very book to put into the hands of your students, or to read aloud. It is beautifully illustrated by John Walcott Adams and is a definite addition to either the home or the school library. If you can't get it at your nearest book-store, write us direct.
