N such a spirit were made the books that are treasured in museums. But in this year of grace people concern themselves with the message of a book rather than with the book itself. Books are taken as a matter of course. Yet modern craftsmen have labored not all in vain that their books also shall be beautiful.

You will be richly repaid in interest and pleasure by learning to observe the format of a book. Note the width of the margins, the clarity of the type; note the surface of the paper, which should be uniform in texture and color. The miracle of the enormous number of modern books need not overshadow craftsmanship shown in a single volume.

There is a paper suitable for each book, as the
modern craftsman knows. Cumberland Machine
Book, one of the dozen Warren Standard Printing
Papers, has, for example, been chosen by G. P.
Putnam's Sons for Gustav Kobbé's "Complete Opera
Book." In this case a deservedly large circulation
was anticipated; yet the quality and appearance
of the paper remain the same in every volume of
the edition. And only good paper makes good
printing possible.

Appealing to Women
in Advertising

FIFTY percent of all adver

tising matter is intended to appeal to women. Does it appeal to them 100%? A booklet may be written as interestingly as you please -but it fails of 100% effec tiveness if it is cold and unfeminine in appearance.

But clothe its text with the lux ury and daintiness of a luxurious,

dainty Strathmore Paper and you add all the power of suggestion to all the logic of words.

We have prepared an inter esting series on Expressive Adver tising demonstrating the power of suggestion and sense appeal inherent in Paper, Type, Illus tration and Color. We will gladly send you the series upon request. Strathmore Paper Company, Mittineague, Mass., U. S. A.
