wrote that the A. B. Lee Elevator Co. had the change over job on the Hippodrome Building, but they have not. The Otis Elevator Co. has the job, and Bro. Henry Roegten has charge. Bro. Henry Negle is in charge of the work in Akron, O., for the Otis Elevator Company. They have quite a lot of work there at present. Bro. John Shickler is still working in Youngstown, O. He has been there for some time for the Otis Company. Bro. Taylor is the new city elevator inspector. Bro. Jake Hochstrasser resigned and is back working in the service department Bro. E. Wise has enlisted in the engineers corps, I hear. Bro. J. J. Lloyd and Bro. Jerry Keckel were out of town for a few days putting in a job for the Haughton Elevator Company of Toledo, O. Bro. George Waters was also out of town putting in a job for the Otis Elevator Company. I see by the papers that Floyd Cobey, of Local No. 36, fell six floors in the Goodyear Rubber Company at Akron, O., a short time ago, and said he was fatally injured. I have never heard how he is getting along, but hope he will come out all O. K. Bro. Con. Bentler is still on the sick list at his home, I understand. Bros. L. Kinter, Cole and Kaufman were up to Elgin, O., finishing up a job for the Otis Elevator Company.

With best wishes to all the brothers, I am,

Fraternally,

Local No. 17.

FRED. C. HEILMAN.

ROCHESTER, N. Y.

To the Editor:

We are at war, and Local No. 27 will do its share towards prosecuting it to a successful termination.

A resolution was introduced by our financial secretary, Bro. C. Johnson, in which Local 27 pledges itself to pay the dues for all members who have to serve the country in the present crisis. The vote for the resolution was unanimous.

Bro. Dave Walker met with an accident a short time ago in which his back was quite badly injured. The plank he was working on broke and

he fell 20 feet. It will take some time before he is able to work again.

Bro. Angel is up and around again after having spent a month in the hospital following an operation for rupture. He expects to be back at work in two or three weeks.

Bro. C. Overill is to be married in June. No one can accuse him of evading military service when he waits that long. Congratulations to you, Charlie.

The week beginning the 25th of April there will be held in Convention Hall a great bazaar. The money raised from it will be used in the erection of a new and greater labor temple, where it is proposed all the unions of this city will have quarters. The bazaar is held under the auspices of the Central Trades and Labor Council. There is to be a grand parade on opening night.

At the last meeting two new members were initiated, Bros. Weeks and Lester. B. THORESEN. Local No. 27.

TO BE AN EDITOR.

Most any one can be an editor. All the editor has to do is to sit at a desk six days out of the week, four weeks of the month, and twelve months of the year, and "edit" such stuff as this:

"Mrs. Jones, of Cactus Creek, let a can-opener slip last week and cut herself in the pantry."

"A mischievous lad of Piketown threw a stone and hit Mrs. Pike in the alley last Thursday."

"John Doe climbed on the roof of his house last week looking for a leak and fell, striking himself on the porch."

"While Harold Green was escorting Miss Violet Wise from church social last Saturday night a savage dog attacked and bit Mr. Green on the public square."

"Isaiah Trimmer, of Running Creek, was playing with a cat last Friday when it scratched him on the veranda."

Learn to be prompt and the world hasn't much more to teach you.
